So, I'm taking a page from artslam on Livejournal (artgrind was too long >.>) and doing an art challenge for myself.
The long and short of it is that I've picked one thing to work on -- in this case, Linger characters -- and will be doing a drawing a day for a month. When that's over, I think I'm going to try to do a drawing a day with a different theme, likely Linger backgrounds. I mean, I'm not going to be sticking totally to that -- if I have an idea for a bg, I'ma draw it, and if I have an idea for a character, I'ma draw it, etc -- but I'll use those as guidelines. And then, at the end of the week, the drawings will go up somewhere on the internet, both so people can give their opinions (good or bad, though hopefully the bad will be crit and not just 'you suck' >.>) and so that I hold myself accountable for days I slack off and don't draw.
That being said, anyone else want in? It doesn't have to be art-related -- it can be writing (a la the Clarion West Write-A-Thon that's going on :P) or photography or whatever. Just basically, these things:
1. Pick a thing you want to get better at. Whether that's concentrating on one project, or just 'I want to make myself draw something every day' or what, just one thing to be your theme of the month.
2. Do it every day. Create create create! :D
3. Post your shit, yo. At the end of the week (or at whatever interval you choose -- every couple days, every day, every two weeks), post all your stuff somewhere so people can see what you're doing! And so you can hold yourself accountable for making something every day, and so later you can look back over it and see what progress you've made.
If people want, I can throw master posts up occasionally so people can leave links to their check-ins and so other people can go around and look at the cool stuff other people are doing. But that's only if people want to do this. Otherwise I'll just be throwing my own stuff up somewhere (might be here, might be elsewhere, might be both, iono).
:D? Anyone? And if anyone wants to signal boost this around, that's also cool. It doesn't have to balloon into some huge official thing; just is based on what people want to do.
(Tonight's doodleproject, for me, is drawing a shitton of robot arms.)
